What Can You Expect With a Professional HVAC System Installation?

There are quite a few factors to consider when you replace your HVAC system. If this is the first time going through the process, you may not know what to factor in and what to expect with the installation process.  If you hire a professional HVAC company, there’s nothing to worry about. Here is what to expect when technicians install a new HVAC unit in your home.

Assessment

Before you decide on a new HVAC system, our technicians will have to see your home and identify any potential challenges or upgrades that may be required. Additional steps include:

Size of Your HVAC System

To determine the appropriate size of your new HVAC system, technicians will need to get the square footage of your property. Based on these calculations, they can then determine what size HVAC system you should have. The right size is important. If it is too small, it won’t effectively warm or cool your home. And if it’s too big, it will short cycle. Before you pick an HVAC system, a technician will also perform load calculations.

Efficiency of Your HVAC Unit

Another factor you’ll need to consider when technicians install a new HVAC system is its efficiency. Based on your property and your needs, technicians can help you choose an HVAC unit based on the following:

  • SEER rating: You will want a system with a high SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating. The SEER rating measures the cooling efficiency of an air conditioner. A higher SEER rating means the system is more energy efficient.
  • Energy Star certification: Look for an HVAC system with an Energy Star certification. This means it meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Type of system: Consider the type of HVAC system that would be best for your home, such as a central HVAC system or even a ductless mini-split system.
  • Zoning: If you have a large home with multiple levels, you may want to consider a zoned HVAC system, which allows you to control the temperature in different areas of your home.

HVAC System Installation Costs

A third factor that you should expect when you install a new HVAC system in your home are the various costs. The most important cost is the cost of the equipment. There may also be additional costs for ductwork or additional vents.

There will be labor costs when professional technicians install the unit. There may be upgrades to consider, too, such as a programmable thermostat. Although there is an added cost at first, these upgrades can save you money in the long run.

Most, if not all, HVAC systems will come with a warranty. You will have to factor in the cost of the warranty into your overall budget. Finally, future maintenance costs can help extend the lifespan of your unit and keep it running efficiently.

The Installation Process

Once our technicians have helped you pick the right unit for your home, they will prepare your home for the installation. This may include removing the old HVAC system, upgrading electrical or ductwork systems, and obtaining necessary permits and inspections.

They will then install your new HVAC system, including the unit, ductwork, vents, and the thermostat. They will also make all the necessary connections to your electrical and plumbing systems.

Once the unit is installed, they will test the system to ensure it is functioning properly. They will also make any necessary adjustments. Finally, they will provide training on how to use and maintain your new HVAC system. At this stage, they will also let you know about your warranty.
